Just Me

Hello! My name is Josh Langlois and I am a father, an actor, a corporate professional, a writer and an overall goofball, but more importantly than that, I am me. I am in my early… something’s… a single father of two beautiful girls and we are nestled in the lovely state of Colorado.

I started writing when I was very young, but I did not truly dive into the world of book creation until 2015. My debut novel, The Supernatural Adventures of Ryan Bumble: The Mystery of the Cat's Eye, was my first true delve into world creation and storytelling. I made the mistake so many first-time independent authors make, and I rushed my publication date. I didn’t take the time to properly edit, format, revise, etc., so it was a flop. BUT… it was a learning experience. I took the lessons from that debacle and finally re-published my novel retitled The Supernatural Adventures of Ryan Bumble: The Cat’s Eye. It recently hit the virtual shelves of Amazon and it is a product I can finally say I am very proud of.

During the day I play a mild-mannered Process Analyst in the lovely world of Telecommunications, but at night I transform into Dad: the fixer of things/head cook/maid/washer of clothes/checker of homework/head bed-maker/… well, you get the idea. But, once in a while, just once in a while, the writer in me gets to come out and play, and that is where I truly get to shine and live in my own world. I don’t just write children’s adventure. I also have a Young Adult Dystopian series in the works, as well as a horror chronology. And I am dabbling in adaptation as well with two television projects in the works.

If I were to offer any advice to aspiring authors, it would be this: write it ALL down. The biggest mistake new authors make is to try and make their first drafts as perfect as possible. They spend days, weeks, months, even years trying to perfect some chapters before even writing the entire manuscript and they never end up completing their novel. The frustration and exhaustion begins to set in and, next thing you know, the project is set aside and forgotten. So please, write it all down, no matter how bad it is. You can always revise. After all, that’s what the editing phase is for.

In conclusion, I would just like to say: never give up. No matter the circumstances, no matter what challenges you face, and no matter what anyone says, never give up! Your dreams are within your grasp as long as you keep fighting and believing. You have a fan out in the world, just waiting to see what you come up with!

“You do not stop playing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop playing.”
